Annabel is a not so shy, but simple girl who left her family and a good job in Nigeria to be with her husband, Uche in USA with the hope of starting a new life. At the airport in Chicago, Annabel was faced with a dilemma: Her husband did not show up as promised to pick her up. He did not answer her calls or respond to voice messages she left on the phone that she had arrived at the airport. Finally, after waiting for several hours, she accepts a ride from a taxi driver by the name Richard, who drove her to the city to find Uche. Upon arriving at the address, Annabel was confronted by a woman with children who told her Uche is her husband. Distraught and heartbroken and no place to stay; she accepts an offer from Richard, to stay at a hostel while she decides on what to do.
